About the Department

The Department of Civil Engineering at Walchand College of Engineering, Sangli, established in 1947, is the oldest in the Southern Maharashtra region. Over the years, the department has produced several eminent engineers who hold key positions in government organizations, public sector undertakings, and leading infrastructure companies across India. The department offers a four-year B.Tech. program in Civil Engineering and a two-year M.Tech. program with specializations in Environmental Engineering and Construction Management. It is supported by a team of experienced and reputed faculty with expertise across diverse civil engineering domains, who actively engage in teaching, research, and consultancy.

The department has well-equipped laboratories in Structural, Environmental, Geotechnical, Hydraulics, Transportation, Surveying, and Construction Engineering, along with dedicated computing facilities. Faculty members have published extensively in reputed journals and conferences and have undertaken sponsored research projects funded by national agencies such as MHRD, AICTE, DST, MPCB, FIST, MODROB, TEQIP and RGSTE. The B.Tech. program in Civil Engineering has consistently received full NBA accreditation since 2003.
